November 15, 2007, A.U.R.A. celebrated the first-ever GAGO in New York City at club, Metro 53. Dr. Michael Shermer was the featured guest of honor. Additionally, Atheist Alliance International President, Margaret Downey and Ellen Johnson, President of American Atheist made special guest appearances.
The amazing talent of atheist rapper, Greydon Square provided musical and thoughtful entertainment as did Dr. Richard Milner, the “singing Darwinian scholar.” (See also www.thegreatamericangodout.com for more detail.)

Addtionally, A.U.R.A. has successfully campaigned to have local libraries in Iowa end their religious bias for “Christian literature” only in their “Religion Section.” Our goal is to have authors such as Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Dan Dennett and Sam Harris represented in sections designated for books about religion.
Darwin Day! A.U.R.A members celebrated an ‘open to the public’ party on Darwin’s birthday, February 12th, 2008. An “evolution cake” was the center of attention as students read from The Origin of Species with media on hand to cover the event.
A.U.R.A. will next be staging a large protest in Iowa on May 1st, 2008 against the federally recognized “National Day of Prayer.” A.U.R.A. members and members of other SSA and local secular clubs will align to celebrate the “National Day of Reason” on May’s Island in Cedar Rapids, IA. The event is free and open to the public.
